Kendig 2021 introduction, TET, 28" tall, 6.5" bloom, SEV, Late season bloom, 4 branches and 26 buds. This is a fantastic flower with a good clean color and a spectacular gold edge. Opens well, flowers are very consistent.
Kendig 2022 Introduction, TET, 34" tall, 5 3/4" bloom, Midseason, Dormant, 3 branches, 15 buds. Orange with broken mahogany streaks and spots. (Augie's Unique Beauty x Explosion In The Paint Factory) Scouts, attending a camp fire, would often hear a call and response cheer "Augie, Augie, Augie", followed by "Oy, Oy,Oy". Maybe those were simpler times.
I introduced a plants named Promise Your Heart in 2008. Many years later, Daru Sharp observed that her Promise Your Heart plant was consistently displaying broken color, even if the broken color effect is not a show-stopper. I verified that my Promise Your Heart was the same bloom that I originally registered (no hint of a broken color). So the plant discovered by Daru had mutated and now has the broken color effect that it can pass along. This is important because despite the increasing number of broken colors that are being registered each year, there is a very limited gene pool from which they have all been bred. So, both Daru and I are testing Breaking Your Promise to see if it can contribute some different genetics to this effort.
Kendig 2023 TET 24" tall, Midseason bloom, 5" flower, Semi-Evergreen foliage, 3 branches and 20 buds. (Open Book x unknown) A wonderful plant with very consistent blooms. The culmination of 20 years of breeding for red edges and red eyes with high contrast. This plant should grow great for you. It has flourished in my zone 6 garden.
Kendig 2022 Introduction, TET, 40" tall, 8" diameter bloom, Dormant, Midseason, 2 branches, 13 buds. Crispate form. Gold and orange broken color with twisting and quilling sepals. (Explosion In The Paint Factory x Explosion In The Paint Factory)
(Howard-R., 2013) height 38in (96cm), bloom 7in (18.0cm), season La, Dormant, Tetraploid, 20 buds, 4 branches, Unusual Form Crispate-Cascade-Spatulate, Yellow with variable, red, broken, overlay. Kendig, 2004, Tet, 44" tall, Midseason, rebloom, 4 branches, 16 buds, 5" diameter, fragrant, Dormant foliage. Near white blooms tower above most other whites. Scapes are very stout and vertical. Originated by Manfred Heinrich 2021, Dip, 25" tall, 5" diameter, Midseason, dormant, 4 branches, 23 buds. Very white daylily. I grow about 75 white daylilies and, having seriously compared them all, this is the whitest of all of them. Fertile both ways. This is an important plant for anyone who wants to breed white daylilies, or has been waiting for a very white daylily. Parentage is unknown.
Kendig 2024 Tet, 21" tall, Midseason, rebloom, 4 branches, 20 buds, 6" diameter, Dormant foliage. Deep rose color with 1/2" wide gold edge and long fringe and hooks. I was shocked to look at the initial bloom. Lots of blooms need a taller scape to put on a better show. (Hooked on You x unknown)
Kendig, 2019, 28" tall,5" flower, TET, Midseason Bloom, 3 Branches and 18 buds, Dormant. Stripe color pattern with pale pink appearing beneath broken red color. Fertile both ways and sets pods easily. Midseason bloom can move striped flowers onto the schedule of garden tours and flower shows. This plant will be, in my opinion, an important contribution to the development of striped flowers. Explosion In The Paint Factory x Strawberry Milkyway
Plant is named, of course, for the Connecticut daylily hybridizer Rich Howard, who brought us the excellent and important plant, Explosion In The Paint Factory.
Kendig, 2024, TET, 36" tall, Midseason, 4 branches, 24 buds, 7" diameter bloom, Dormant foliage. Deep red petals and orange sepals. Saturated yellow color throat with green at the center. Kendig 2016 height 44 in, bloom 5 in, season M, Semi-Evergreen, Tetraploid, Fragrant, 30 buds, 5 branches, Near white flower with widely spaced branching. (unknown × unknown)
Awards: JC 2016
Kendig, TET, 2023 introduction, 30" tall, Midseason bloom, 4 branches, 24 buds 5" flower. Purple and pale lavender stripes and watermark. Colors are almost identical to Wacky Wednesday and I believe it is the child of Wacky Wednesday x The Snow Moon. A beautiful broken color, and a great parent to use to try to increase the bud count on the broken color plants.
(Seifert, 2015) height 32in, bloom 7in, season M, Semi-Evergreen, Tetraploid, 10 buds, 2 branches, Purple with white streaks, chartreuse throat. (Swallow Tail Kite × Voices Carry) Pollen fertile, difficult as a pod parent. Every flower has displayed purple striping.
Kendig 2024 TET, 30" tall, Early Midseason, 4 branches, 24 buds, 7" diameter bloom, Dormant foliage. White breeding has produced this very pale, almost white, peach bloom with 3 1/2" wide petals. Petals have sculpting and the scapes have candelabra style branching. A very finished looking flower. (White Mountain x Whirling White)
Kendig 2022 Introduction, DIP, 34", Dormant, Midseason, 4 1/2" bloom, fragrant, 5 branches, 30 buds. Beautiful white bloom. This is the white plant many of us have been waiting for. It is among the 5 daylilies that have been identified as the whitest available today. What makes it different is that it is vigorous, tall, and well branched with lots of buds. (Sagarmatha x Big Snowbird)
Kendig, TET, 2022 24" tall, Midseason bloom, 2 branches and 12 buds and frequently reblooms, 7" flower Semi-Evergreen, Rich Howard x unknown. Yellow and red broken color, descending from Explosion In The Paint Factory. Red color is rich and the broken color occurs reliably but with high variability. I really like the bloom photo with the red stripe down the midrib. My goal is to produce stripes rather than splatters or irregular color breaks. But who know?
Plants will be available for spring delivery.
Kendig 2021 Introduction, Tet, 30" tall, 5 1/4" bloom, Dormant, Midseason bloom. Pale yellow flower with large red eye and wide edge. The eye and edge color is striking because of the clear color and the strong contrast. The red color reminds me of those bright red jeeps that you see on the road, I think the color is actually called flame red. (Open book x seedling).
